Manual Tool Trap
A tool trap is mainly used for preventing the instruments from falling into the well because the cable is accidentally stretched breaking or released after the instrument sting is lifted to the lubricator from the well. The tool trap is normally closed when it is stopped and is put into the well to work. When the whole set of the BOP is connected on the wellhead to work, firstly open the valve on the wellhead to make well liquid enter the lubricator, after the liquid is stable and instrument string is uplifted for a certain distance.
Tool traps are available in both hydraulically operated and manually operated models. A tool trap is designed to be installed at the bottom of a lubricator or wellhead setup and prevents the loss of a wireline tool in case the rope socket is accidentally stripped out. It has an external indicator which shows the position of the flapper.
